Social Studies Students Interact With Dr. Nyseth Brehm From Ohio State University

Students Learning About Rwanda

Part of the learning experience for me in the social studies field is giving students interactive learning opportunities. One of those experiences was hearing from Dr. Hollie Nyseth Brehm from Ohio State University. The class did a Skype call with her, where she talked about her experiences during her nine trips to Rwanda, and her extensive research regarding the Rwandan genocide, which we learned about in class. Dr. Brehm talked about interviews she conducted with those involved with the Rwandan genocide, the past, and the current state of Rwanda. Students truly enjoyed this experience and hearing first hand accounts regarding what they learned in class. -Ryan Sprenger

On Monday March 12th the Marathon County Historical Society came to Spencer and brought Harlan Grinde to talk about the role China plays in the world today. Harlan talked in the LuCille Tack center in front of community members from Spencer, Wausau, Stratford, and other communities in Central Wisconsin. Thanks to the Marathon County Historical Society, Diane Veale, and the Spencer History Club for helping out with the event. - Submitted by Mr. Wagner, and Mr. Sprenger

AP Calculus Taught via Distance Learning as a Dual Credit Course

AP Calculus

Students have been working hard in our AP Calculus class with Mr. Oestreich.  This class is also a Dual Credit course affiliated with Northcentral Technical College which allows students multiple pathways to earn college credit. This is one of our many classes that is taught via distance learning allowing our students to collaborate with area students while also providing the opportunity for students from other schools the chance to take a class that is not offered at their school.
