The 7th grade students in Mrs. Rogney's World History class are wrapping up their unit on Ancient Greece. Topics covered in the unit included geography, government, wars, and Athens vs. Sparta. Students were asked to combine content from all topics and create a shield that would represent themselves and their beliefs if they were to live during this era.
The class also explored a new art technique called patina, that they could add to their shields. Students used a small piece of copper to create a crest that would be displayed on their finished piece. Liver of Sulfur was then used on the copper to help iodize it and create this cool old look. The students were excited to try something new and their finished pieces turned out fantastic.
