Safer at Home Order:

On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Governor Tony Evers' stay-at-home order. While restrictions on businesses and gatherings have been lifted for the time being, the ruling does not affect current school closures in the state.

To that end, all buildings in the School District of Spencer will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. We are consulting with the Marathon County Department of Health regarding how the ruling may affect other district programming and events in the future.

We encourage our students and families to continue practicing social distancing and adhere to the guidelines provided by the CDC and other entities. It is expected that the governor and legislature will release a new plan for businesses and gatherings soon.

FEMA Grant!

Great news: we were contacted by FEMA Region 5 that our grant allocation amount came to $2,926,153. This amount is even larger than we anticipated. So what this means is we can FINALLY! Begin our project. The hold up was if we spent any fund under the auspices of the grant they would be forfeited. We have been proactive and have done much of the planning and work leading up to this point so we should be able to begin our main construction mid to late summer. Once we finalize the formal schedule with the contractors I will send that out. Our FACE room and Bathroom renovations will begin on or about June 1st. Great to finally have an answer and get things going.

End of School Year

Graduation: The formal ceremony for our seniors has been postponed to August 1, 2020. Whatever we can do to recognize our seniors' accomplishments at that time we will do under the auspices of the Marathon County Health Department (MCHD)and their recommendations.

Check out: We are also working with MCHD to formulate a plan to safely have our students return their chromebooks and to also allow them to clean out their lockers etc. Once we have that finalized, which should be very shortly, our building principals will get that information out.

Summer School: The Department of Public instruction has allowed funding for virtual summer school offerings. We will have some classes available through the summer. We are also hoping that if we can do a traditional face to face session we would plan that for July or August. I have been in contact with the Abbotsford School District and if they are allowed they will be hosting summer swim lessons as well and we will participate. This too more information will be sent out once we know it.

Thank You!

Senior Banners: I want to thank Tracy Bauer for organizing and all the parents and community members that donate funds to honor our seniors by placing banners throughout the Village. What a nice tribute after a very difficult year!
